Cotillion

Cotillion is a youth development and scholarship program co-sponsored by the Kansas City (MO) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and the Foundation for Delta Educational and Economic Development (DEED Foundation) as part of its national Five-Point Programmatic Thrust. The annual program is designed to enhance the academic, social, cultural, and civic awareness of selected high school seniors –both female and male– from the greater Kansas City metropolitan area.

Over the course of six-months, the participants engage in a variety of enrichment activities, including a college experience tour, an essay competition, college-readiness workshops, and a talent showcase. The program culminates in a formal presentation dinner, featuring a grand waltz performance and the announcement of scholarship awards.

Since its inception in 1985, the Cotillion program has awarded more than $2 million in scholarships to 994 participants. In 2025, as part of its 40th Cotillion Anniversary, the program awarded over $44,000 to twenty-one outstanding high school seniors.
